If you guys are out of ideas... stuff are happening in the world that you may need to address in the Government. Inspired by current events. Also random.

Today:
UN pushes Arms Trade Treaty on the ProvGov.
(Basically, the treaty in this article has already passed UN: [Only admins are allowed to see this link] )

An anarchist group storms in a store in Wisconsin and holds hostages. Due to lack of police forces, the anarchists are not apprehended. This is Day 1.

Food shortages on the rise. Price jumps common.

Gangs raid a Wal-Mart in Indiana.

A Japanese scientist is said to have found a cure for cancer. His research is awaiting the review of the scientific community.

Organizations in support of ERA (Equal Rights Amendment) are starting to reorganize.

Day 4 of hostage situation. Some former military and police, due to lack of governmental police forces, have banded as a vigilante group to hold negotiations.

This is Day 5 of the hostage situation.

When shots inside the store was heard, the vigilante group stormed in.

8 casualties. 14 critically injured. 35 wounded.

The news media is lambasting over it, calling for ProGov to pass the bill.

*This would be seen as an opportunity. When anything like this happens, a bill that pertains to it is greatly supported by the public.

The bill was passed. Was order underway to be regained? Have we determined who the captors are? Are they terrorists?

It did? When did it ever arrived in the floor?

That's not your concern anymore, really. Resolution is not instant. The money is flowing, yes, but the organizations, police infrastructure, etc. are not built yet

This is to simulate how impersonal it is to the real life Congress and government. The connection between the laws passed and reality are not immediately apparent.

Well, on that note, no pertinent news to politics today. Well, a celebrity was spotted in a zoo or something.

Local order is being restored slowly to most towns and cities, however, there are a few bands of anarchists and mafia type gangs controlling neighborhoods and settlements. Some vigilante groups and militias detest the new police, but also, some are patriotic enough to join and sign up.

However, there is talk of coming martial law among the populace and media.

Food shortages grow worse because of drought.

The UN is willing to send Peacekeepers to order the anarchists. They will be flown in a few weeks.

The largest "anarchist" organization, a Mafia of sorts, is resisting government order, mostly the National Guard, in some big cities, especially near the Mexican border. They are known to carry on illegal drug smuggling. They have corrupt government officials in their payroll.

They control:
Las Vegas, Nevada
some parts of New Mexico

Some radicals in Texas are talking of secession, however, it has largely been quelled, due to Texas controlling much of ProGov. Other states are worried about state rights. News of a Constitutional Convention is mostly rumor and speculation.

Militia groups still swarm Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, and parts of the Midwest. Though their influence is waning, they are still a formidable force, however splintered. They are composed of mostly white supremacist movements.

Down in the big cities, food riots are still common place, though it eased somewhat. Churches and charities are known to have some form of soup kitchen in every city. Gasoline is at an all time high, at 8 dollars per gallon.

The military bases are isolated. It is joked that Americans are trying to cross to Canada in large numbers, but Canada, is too, affected.

Is the National Guard the mafia? Or is that the government law enforcement that the mafia is resisting?

To clarify, the National Guard is trying to put back the states in order, but its not effective. No, the mafia is not the National Guard, however, there is a measure of corruption within it from the Mafia organization.

The police infrastructure is slowly being rebuilt.

Lots of lobbyists are gathering at the ProGov House.

Also, some rallies in Washington D.C. Some suspected to be anarchist connected. The police and the crowds are in a state of tension, but its been relatively peaceful. Also some rallies against the new anti-abortion law.

Illegal abortion clinics have sprung out. Since the police are overstretched, nothing is being done.

Rallies, a least media-covered ones, have died down. There are still smaller ones scattered around.

Rumors are intensifying about a secret Constitutional Convention. Demagogues are calling for complete transparency.

Tax-based businesses (H&R Block, Quickbooks, etc.) are lobbying against the new tax law. The IRS is also against it.

The UN finally back down on its landing of Peacekeeper troops, seeing that there is still an effective government in the US. The UN recognizes the ProGov as legitimate and has reinstated full diplomatic relations.

A group of largely Democratic and a few conservatives have gotten whiff of a Constitutional Convention. Press Release states:

We are enraged. This is nothing short of dictatorship.

"America shall be an indivisible, unitary Republic.

Section I: The members of the National Senate shall be elected for a term of ten years, with one-fifth up for election every two years; who shall not recieve any monetary compensation for their services to the Nation, and shall be at least thirty years of age, and who shall be ineligible for any offices under the Provincial governments, and whose number shall be equal to the number of Provinces in the Nation. They must be a resident of the region they are representing; they must be a citizen nine years and are ineligible if they are an illegal entrant.

Section II: The Senators shall be elected as follows: The Nation shall be split into 20 Electoral Regions, of equal area, which the House of Representatives shall establish by law. The Citizens in each Region shall choose three electors; but no Senator, or Representative, or person holding an office of trust or profit under the American Republic shall be appointed an elector.
The electors shall vote by ballot for two persons. And they shall make a list of all the persons voted for, and of the number of votes for each; which list they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the President. The President shall, in the presence of the House of Representatives, open the certificate, and the votes shall be counted. The two persons having the greatest number of votes in their region shall be the Senators from their respective regions.

The President shall have power to appoint Governors, and declare martial law for a period of two years. During this time, he shall have power to make any laws necessary for the good of the nation..."

Interviews and media coverage of attendees spike. The public seems divided.

The Constitutional Convention has closed, and the new Constitution is forcibly "ratified", enforced only by the remaining national military of the Pentagon. Remaining state legislatures of Ohio, Texas, California, Montana, Alaska, and others are petitioning for a valid ratification. Some governors have assumed control of the Guard and their State, while some are more or less cooperative with the new Government.

The Con-Rep and Constitution parties have announced their coalition. In return for the Constitution Party's support, Con-Rep has promised them the much prized Ministry of the Treasury.
