The American Republic

A new religion was founded two years ago in Kirksville Missouri, known as the Sacred Fire. Their main beliefs, as far as we know, are as follows:

The world was made by a divine spirit known as the Sacred Fire, this spirit is fire in its perfection;
This divine spirit is also the perfection of reason, and as such, is often referred to as the Pure Reason;
All of the universe will one day be purged by this spirit and remade into perfection;
Mankind must follow the dictates of the Pure Reason, as found in his own reason;
Men whose reason is purified by the divine, are part of a vast brotherhood of man, and will one day rule the entire world;
Until these wisest of men control the world, chaos will reign supreme.

Their membership has boomed recently, and is roughly made up of three-hundred thousand members, and is growing fast. It is especially popular with the intellectual elite, because of its emphasis upon reason.

The rate of professed conversions to Christianity in America is slowly shrinking. Evangelical leaders have called for a summit of all Christian denominations in order to address this issue.
_____________________________________________

A group of young professed Christians have expressed their frustration with American Christianity, and have started a new denomination, known as the Modern Punk Christian Society. This denomination's main beliefs are as follows:
Christ, with His death on the cross, made all people perfect;
Because of this, no one can sin;
Furthermore, men may do anything they wish, so long as their heart is right;
However, if your heart is not right, you may disappear from the universe after you die;
Alchohol and drugs are God's gift to young people, so let us use them in full!

They have twenty-thousand professed members, and their membership is growing steadily among young people.

Sacred Fire... Zoroastrianism?

As usual, the hardline Fundamentalists turn down the invitation to the compromising Evangelical summit. To rival it, they organize a "Fundamental Truth"(a media derision) meeting in Lancaster, California.

The Sacred Fire has gained three converts in the ProGov House of Representatives, two Republicans from California, and one Democrat from Ohio. They are calling for the Constitutional Convention to finish their work and bring the new Constitution into being. Furthermore, they are calling for a strengthened military, and powerful centralized government.
_____________________________________________

The Evangelical Summit has gained the support of the following denominations:
Neo-orthodox Catholic Church,
Presbyterian Church of America,
Presbyterian Church of the United States of America,
Christian and Missionary Alliance,
Episcopal Church,
Anglican Church of America,
Modern Punk Christian Society,
Northern Baptist Convention,
and several small obscure denominations.

They shall hold their Summit in two weeks.
_____________________________________________

The Modern Punk Christian Society is beginning to split into hardline punks and soft punks. The hardliners refuse to participate in the Evangelical Summit, whereas the softies promote participation. At the moment, the softies have the most influence in the denomination.

The Sacred Fire has sent out an official call to members of the Constitutional Convention, asking them to finish the Constitution now. They threaten to call another Convention if the Constitution is not soon finished. Certain of their leaders also threaten rebellion if a new and powerful government is not set up.
_____________________________________________

The Evangelical Summit is finally being held. Nothing official about their proceedings has been leaked to the press.
_____________________________________________

A new Christian movement has started, called the Citizens of the Kingdom. These Christians come mainly from non-denominational protestant and Southern Baptist churches. Their official stances are:
1) Christians should not run for political office,
2) nor should they criticize political officials for anything other than their religion,
3) nor should they rebel or speak ill of government,
4) nor should they be criticized by people for anything other than being followers of Christ (thus, they should have no political affiliation).

This group is highly criticized by most protestant churches for being too "introverted" and un-caring for their nation. They are also criticized for their complete lack of patriotism.
_____________________________________________

The Modern Punk Christian Society has been dismembered from lack of unity among their converts. Few people claim it as their denomination.

A well-known evangelical pastor, Mr. Kam Lowell, has begun a crusade to reform the morals of America. He is joined by several other self-proclaimed Christians, and is begin these "Reaper Crusades" all over the country. He is scheduled to have crusades in twenty-five of the fifty previously united states. He is drawing intense criticism for his fervent attacks upon political liberalism and his near lack of focus upon "strictly spiritual" issues.

Members of the Sacred Fire have endorsed the new Constitution, and applaud the Convention for forcibly ratifying it. They are now calling for the states to line up behind the Constitution. A formal call has been sent to each state legislature, asking where their loyalties lie.

The Sacred Fire has endorsed most of the platform of the Con-Rep party, but have asked what its stance is on foreign policy before the sect will formally join the party.
___________________________________________________________

The Evangelical Summit has finished in disaster. All denominations present could not come to agreement on most issues, and have dissolved the summit.

The leaders of the Sacred Fire have officially endorsed the Con-Rep Party, and have called for their members to help ensure its victory in the upcoming elections. Talks between the Con-Rep leader Christopher S. and the Sacred Fire leaders have commenced, but it is unknown what the relationship between the party and the religious sect shall look like. However, it is unlikely that the sect will be much more than supporters of the party, since Christopher S. is known to be a protestant Christian and unfriendly to the beliefs of the Sacred Fire.

Mr. Kam Lowell has endorsed the Constitution Party, and is fervently urging all Christians to vote for them in the upcoming election.

___________________________________________________

A group of highly committed Conservative Protestant Lawyers and Lobbyists have founded a new political activist group, called the American Union of Conservative Law and Politics (AUCLP). Most of the mainline conservative Protestant churches have given their support to this new political group.

This group has given most of its support to the Con-Rep Party, but many of its greatest leaders have endorsed the Constitution Party. Thus, it has not officially endorsed a single party.
